Geological modelling and geostatistical resource estimation of the hope north deposit

The geological and resource modelling of the Hope North iron deposit, which is hosted by the Marra Mamba Iron Formation, is described in detail. The procedures used are an example of an integrated and very thorough approach to the evaluation of an iron resource. All relevant geological and statistical/geostatistical attributes of the deposit have been carefully and fully assessed and incorporated into the model and resource estimate. It is considered that all iron deposits should be evaluated using the same rigorous techniques. In particular the quality of the input data should be fully examined and verified. Detailed and accurate geological and structural interpretations of such deposits are essential for the production of reliable estimates of resources.
