Pattern of surgical admissions in Gondar Teaching Hospital, Ethiopia

A retrospective study based on the principal discharge diagnosis of 4121 surgical in-patients, who were admitted to Gondar College of Medical Sciences Hospital over a three year period, is made to document the commonest surgial conditions prevalent in the north west region of Ethiopia, Intestinal obstruction was the commonest cause of surgical admission followed by head injury and soft tissue injury.
