摘要
Technology parks have emerged in the United States since the early 1950's where the function of parks ranges from technology transfer, licensing, intellectual property protection and local economic development. Though each geographical region may differ in its incentive of founding technology parks, the main goal of each municipality aims at maximizing the mutual benefits via close industry-university collaborations in technology parks. This paper would start with two case studies focusing on technology transfer states at Cambridge University and Duke University and the surrounding technology parks: Silicon Fen and Research Triangle Park. The comparison studies are performed to demonstrate the individual features of technology transfer activities at these technology parks via university-industry collaboration. Last, the effective outcome and economic benefit are evaluated from the value chain flow between the technology parks and universities while contemporary national science policies in UK and in US are taken into the discussion in this paper.
