The results of milk recording and super control were analysed and compared for the period from 1995 to 1998. Super control was carried out on 68 farms and 915 cows respectively. Milk recording on the farms was performed by 31 controllers and two supervisors. The results were compared for the total daily milk quantity, fat, protein and lactose content. For these traits the absolute and relative differences, as well as standard deviations for absolute differences in percentage were established. By the method of differences we compared the results of milk recording and super control and found statistically highly significant differences for the supervisor B, while for supervisor A these differences, except for fat content, were not significant. The environmental effects were evaluated by variance analysis and the rate of explained variance was presented. Based on the results and compared data from other countries the criteria for production recording in Slovenia were determined. Super control should be carried out in at least 5 percent of recorded herds with the deviation allowance of 9 percent for milk quantity, 10 percent for fat and 3 percent for protein content.
