摘要：

The impact of the Internet and e-commerce on trading in the chemical industry is discussed, emphasizing on the importance of supply chains and the community approach. Online trading of chemical products is shown to be advantageous for both the buyer and the seller. The battle of the e-marketplaces is expected to be one of the more interesting chemical industry developments of the next few months and years, as it seems likely that the initial period of explosive growth will be followed by radical consolidation.
