摘要
The objective of College English Teaching and Learning Reforms is to develop students' comprehensive abilities in using English, especially in listening and speaking. An integrated part of College English Teaching and Learning Reforms is to change the present teaching mode, and to establish a new network- and computer-based one. Based on the theory of social constructivist and combined with experiences and theoretical analysis, the teacher's role in the new teaching mode of listening and speaking are advanced. Teachers should serve as facilitators of learning, planners of specific teaching tasks, coaches, mentors, managers, organizers, active assistants, guides and cooperators in the process of teaching and learning. Besides, teachers are required to be researchers.
