A novel sensitive assay for determination of trace amount of iron(III) based on its fluorescence quenching effect on the self-ordered ring of quercetin

摘要
A highly sensitive self-ordered ring technique is first proposed for the determination of trace amount of iron in water samples. The method is based on the capillary effect of solvent in a liquid drop on solid support. At pH 7.33, quercetin can form an SOR on a Me2SiCl2 modified glass slides with the aid of poly (vinyl alcohol)-124. Its maximum fluorescence intensity (I-max) can be quantitatively quenched by iron(III) over the range of 7.56-132.64 ng/mL and the limit of determination is 2.52 ng/mL. Four water samples and two human serum samples were determined satisfactorily.
