Interaction between a high-power electromagnetic wave and a plasma sheet

摘要
A self-consistent analysis method is used to study interaction between a linearly polarized electromagnetic wave and a plasma sheet. It is shown that, when the high-power harmonic wave is incident on a thin plasma sheet, the reflected field may have the form of ultrashort pulses of alternating polarity with an amplitude much higher than the amplitude of the incident field. Interaction between the plasma sheet and a standing electromagnetic wave is considered, and the classic results on the electron motion in a high-frequency field are extended to the case of a strong field and high radiational friction.
