Collective amnesia regarding disasters of previous generations may be attributable to failures in education to include these events in curricula. This paper describes how student-based disaster case-studies of the kind undertaken at Queen's University, Belfast (QUB) and the University of Glasgow can go some way to alleviating this shortcoming. Other benefits of running such exercises are also discussed.
