摘要
Crosstalk noise and insertion loss are important factors influencing the performance of optical networks-on-chip (ONoCs), especially in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) based ONoCs. These factors lead to a high bit error rate (BER) of the communication system, thereby reducing the reliability of the communication in ONoCs. All-optical coding on chip is one of the important methods to solve this problem, so a high-reliability communication scheme that utilizes all-optical coding in ONoCs is implemented in this paper. The scheme mainly exploits the characteristics of linear block codes to implement the function of checking and correcting bit errors. As a core part of implementing this scheme, a micro-resonators (MRs)-based all-optical linear block codes encoder is designed to encode the information sequence before transmission. When the encoded data arrive at the receiving end, an error detection and correction (EDC) module can detect and correct the bit errors according to certain rules. In addition, for bit errors that exceed the error correction range, a retransmission mechanism (RT) is activated in communication system to denoise and retransmit the uncorrectable data group. In order to verify the validity of the proposed approach, a case study is conducted in mesh-based ONoCs with WDM. The simulation results manifest that the information transmission quality can be effectively optimized by applying the reliable communication scheme to the ONoCs. This approach reduces the BER and improves the optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) of optical signals. Under the same condition that the scale of network reaches the maximum, the OSNR is increased by 9.8301 dB and the BER is reduced by 12.4499 dB compared with the traditional mesh-based ONoCs. Therefore, this work has a great impact on improving the reliability of communication systems.
