摘要
This article intends to analyze the grammatical explanation of French classes as a foreign language for children aged 16-17, B1 level, based on 3 recordings made in 2 high schools in Constanta, Romania. We will analyze the differences which appear between the grammatical explanation built by student's book authors and teachers' strategies used during a grammar class. In order to do so we will compare the language used by three different teachers who teach the subjunctive with the metalanguage found in grammar books and student's book that are approved by the Romanian Ministry of Education. Our paper proposes a theoretical approach to metalanguage, a description of the process of explanation as a teaching method in a foreign language class and a practical approach focused on the concept of explanation with its particular manifestations: code switching, metalanguage, meta terms, discourse markers, repetitions, rephrases, definitions.
