Real-time Extension Technologies on the Windows Operation System

摘要
Due to the strong real-time performance, embedded operating systems are widely adopted in the practical applications, especially in the large-scale systems where real-time communication and tasking processing are required. However, the high price and unfriendly user interfaces of embedded operating systems restrict the range of application fields. It is a growing trend to build the real-time applications upon the common desktop operating systems, such as Windows and Linux, to make full use of their friendly graphical user interfaces, good multitasking performance, and excellent hardware compatibilities. It is of great significance to improve the real-time performance of the common desktop operating systems. In this paper, we make a real-time extension on Windows system to improve its scheduling and task dealing compatibilities. Experiment results show that this extension performs good effects on task processing, and can meet the real-time requirements of applications.
