Collaborative and autonomous communications among devices are expected to transform the digital world in the coming years. The device-to-device (D2D) sidelink communication has a great impetus to enable industrial Internet-of-things (IoT). However, the rapid growth of such networks and dynamic quality of service demands of user equipments require robust and efficient resource management. This paper addresses the issue of mode selection in D2D sidelink communications for industrial IoT applications. Specifically, we consider a finite channel blocklength transmission in order to cater for delay -sensitive industrial IoT applications. To improve the performance of the network, we employ a graph -theoretic approach for efficient mode selection. The simulation results of the proposed approach are compared with conventional heuristic approaches. The results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach against the conventional approaches especially in terms of complexity and throughput.
