摘要
Due to the rapid evolution in high-bandwidth networks and the dramatic increase in central processing unit (CPU) performance, I/O systems have become the performance bottleneck for demanding applications. To avoid the throughput limitations of traditional data retrieval algorithms, a family of algorithms that exploit emerging smart-disk technologies and increase data throughput on high-performance continuous media servers is developed.
