The Evaluation of Maternal and Child Health Reporting System Implementation at Wonosobo District, Central Java']Java Province

Background: One of village midwife duties is to record and report the maternal and child health services. All of the village midwives are required to do recording-reporting by using the cohort instrument MCH-LAM (Maternal and Child Health-Local Monitoring Area). MCH-LAM is a very important data source for the maternal health service. The objective of this study is to analyze MCH recording and reporting systems by midwife at Wonosobo District, Central Java Province. Methods: This research was a qualitative study. Data were collected in-depth interviews. The primary informants were two midwives who involved at the MCH recording and reporting, while the triangulation informant was the midwife coordinator. The content analysis was employed to examine the collected data. Results: The results showed that there was no special budget for recording reporting. The Primary Health Care Centers (Puskesmas) has given limited instrument of data recording. It was found that the village midwives have to copy by themselves when the LAM instrument was over. For recording activities, all village midwives have to use an additional book, as the consequences, data were improperly recorded and reported. In addition, due to the limited budget for visiting newborn babies, the data was not always completed. For data processing step, village midwife did not implement any data validation. Conclusion: The supply of recording instruments for village midwives was not enough, and no budget for visiting new-born babies. There were several additional books to help the use of standard MCH-LAM.
