摘要
The objective of this work is to reduce NOx formation from the automobile engines by EGR process. The works deals with the principle of existing EGR process with slight modification by using heat exchanger for the cooling of exhaust gas temperature. Here, the carbon-dioxide present in the exhaust gas, when recirculated back to the engine with help of cooling water which absorbs its temperature results in slowing down of dilution process which leads in reduction of NOx Environmental protection agency regulates the NOx emission from diesel engines. Overall 30 to 40% of the heat generated in the engine is converted into mechanical work and the left overheat is rejected in the exhaust gas. Here, the ejected heat from the exhaust gas can be utilized by usage of Thermo-Electric Generator (TEG) to generate electricity. Not only conservation of fuel takes place but also there is reduction in the percentage of waste heat and greenhouse gases dumped into the environment by recovery and utilization of waste heat. Thus, NOx emission is reduced and waste heat is recovered efficiently.
