Direct Numerical Simulation of the acoustic field of a turbulent offset jet

摘要
In this paper we use Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) to study the acoustic field generated by a round turbulent jet flowing parallel to a solid wall. The Reynolds and Mach number based on jet nozzle velocity and diameter are 2,500 and 0.5 respectively. It is shown that the wall alters the direction of the emitted sound considerably and that the amplitude of the sound increases when compared to the sound emitted by a free jet.
