40 Gbit/s TDM system technologies and field trials

40 Gbit/s TDM field transmission tests have been performed within ACTS projects AC067-HIGHWAY and AC049-SPEED over 111 km of standard single mode fiber (G.652) installed in the Stuttgart area, including different 40 Gbit/s modulation/multiplexing schemes (OTDM/RZ, ETDM/Binary, ETDM/Quaternary-DST). The observed field fiber transmission system performance and dispersion tolerances of the different 40 Gbit/s TDM system technologies are compared.
