摘要
This study demonstrates the use of the travel cost method combined with geographic information systems (GIS) to estimate the economic value of trips to designated recreation areas in South Carolina. Traditional travel cost methodology relies on the memory of survey respondents or crude simplifications to measure the travel time and distance for recreationists. Using GIS enables more accurate measures of time and distance. Tn addition, it allows for added visual information and spatial analysis that may be useful in marketing outdoor recreation areas.
