Catalytic kinetic-spectrophotometric determination of trace niobium

摘要
A new catalytic method for the determination of trace niobium has been developed with spectrophotometry. It is based on the catalytic effect of Nb(V) on the oxidation of potassium bromate with chlorosulfophenol S in diluted sulphuric acid medium, the linear ragne of Nb(V) is 0.005 similar to 0.1 mg/L, and the detection limit is 2.9 mu g/L. The method is sensitive, accurate and simple. It has been applied to the determination of niobium in alloy steel with satisfactory result.
