Irrinet: IT services for farm water management, a large scale implementation in Italy

摘要
The Irrinet project is a web service hub aiming to ensure an efficient use of water resources in the agricultural sector. Started in 1984 on the Videotex network, Irrinet now involves more than 11.000 farms providing on daily basis the irrigation scheduling on the Web, SMS and Smartphone. The Irrinet services allows yearly a water saving amount of about 50 million of cubic meters of water in Emilia Romagna region. The present paper describes the characteristics of the Irrinet services and the main development trends for the near future. Irrinet has been developed by AltaVia srl on behalf of CER who is the model designer and the owner of the system.
