The role of research-oriented universities in innovative country

摘要：
In this paper, the authors hold that the key for establishing an innovative country is to practically upgrade its self-innovation capability. From this very perspective, and based on three main functions of a university(ie personnel education, scientific research and social service), the paper argues that a research university should endeavour to cradle able personnel, lay the foundations for original innovations and offer intellectual and scientific support for economic development of an innovative country.
