A psychoeducational program for patients with trauma-related disorders

The authors describe the development and implementation of a psychoeducational program for patients with a wide range of trauma-related symptoms and disorders. The psychoeducational intervention is designed to facilitate coping, promote self-understanding, and enhance repectiveness, Using attachment theory as the overarching conceptual framework, the authors educate patients about the nature of trauma, the effects of trauma on development, trauma-related psychiatric disorders, and a range of treatment approaches to trauma. They describe groups far adult inpatients and adults in partial hospital treatment, and for adolescents in either inpatient, residential, or outpatient treatment.
