From genetics and genomics to drug discovery: yeast rises to the challenge

摘要
To identify small-molecule inhibitors of human proteins, a rapid and high-throughput yeast methodology has been developed. Highly sensitive liquid growth assays report the interference of yeast growth caused by the expression of a heterologous protein, and the specificity of the phenotype is validated using known and novel schemas. The development of these high-throughput techniques in yeast validates this organism as an effective paradigm for drug discovery.
