摘要
Methods of studies rural communities can be addressed through various approaches, being the most important the ethnographic approach where the culture of a community is studied in its entirety. Based on the above, the objective of this research was to characterize the socio-economic and production methods of the indigenous community Kashaama, Anzoategui. The description of the social, economic and cultural characteristics was performed by the principal component analysis (PCA) method; an interview guide was applied to 40 farmers. The first five principal components were selected from the principal component analysis with 72.00% of the total variance. The first components were associated with access agricultural information, crop type and yield, and household size. Diversified family farming (production courtyards and small integrated farming) is developed to be an important option for ensuring food security and sovereignty of this community. This research is the basis for the estimation of variables of agricultural development projects geared towards sustainable land management in indigenous rural areas of eastern Venezuela.
