6th International Conference Clean Steel

From 10 to 12 June 2002 in Bala-tonfured/Ungarn the 6th International Conference Clean Steel took place. It was organized by the Hungarian Mining and Metallurgical Society (OMBKE) and the Institute of of Materials (IOM) in cooperation with the International Iron and Steel Institutes Confederation (ESIC) and was attended by 170 participants from 25 countries. 45 specialty lectures dealt with the main topics Making clean steels, Characterising clean steels, Making clean high alloy and stainless steels and User oriented clean steels [1]. R Tardy as organizer and representative of the Association of the Hungarian Steel Industry gave a review on the development of the thematic emphases since the first Clean Steel conference in 1970 and clarified that Clean Steel wouldn't be marketable today according to knowledge status of 1970 [2]. On some for the practice especially interesting reports is pointed shortly in the following paper.
