摘要
Low energy consumption problem has always been one of the most important main issues in wireless sensor networks. Furthermore, applications requiring low latency and high throughput have been increasing fast. Many existing duty-cycle MAC protocols provide good energy efficiency but introduce significant end-to-end packet transmission delay. In this paper, we proposed an energy and delay efficient receiver-initiated MAC protocol which reduces data transmission delay from source node to destination node and node energy consumption in Wireless Sensor Networks. The purpose of this paper is to design an energy and delay efficient MAC protocol and to evaluate performance for that MAC protocol. In this paper, DB-MAC, an energy and packet transmission delay efficient MAC protocol for the wireless sensor network is introduced. DB-MAC allows all nodes to access the link in an efficient manner. This is achieved through an adaptive wake up mechanism based on the remaining buffer size and media access frequency. All nodes in DB-MAC protocol has the same initial wake up period. But as a node loses the competition accessing media with other nodes to transmit its data packet, the node has more data packets to send. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed DB-MAC protocol improves energy efficiency and the total transmission delay.
