摘要
Built-up Edge (BUE) and Built-up Layer (BUL) are the most common adhesion effects that can occur during metal machining processes. BUL and BUE can have adverse effects on surface finish quality and tool life. This paper sums up the results of a study on the micro-structural differences between BUL and BUE as tested on AA7050, cutting processes. From our findings, we have reached the conclusion that BUL and BUE are produced by different mechanisms. Thus, BUL and BUE cannot be considered as two different forms caused by the same effect.
