Efficient second harmonic generation from a Nd:YAG laser

摘要：
Second harmonic generation from a frequency stable Nd:YAG laser using an external cavity is studied. A noncritically phase matched KNbO3 crystal is used for efficient generation of 532 nm light, and the result is compared with that of another similarly made MgO:LiNbO3 crystal external fequency doubler in terms of their crystal conversion efficiencies, losses, and thermal effects. A maximum 65% conversion of infrared to green light is achieved. Green-light-induced-infrared-light-absorption is also measured.
