Physics in 1900 (vol B31, pg 179, 2000)

The state of physics in 1900 is reviewed by making use of the documents of that year, in particular the material of the I-st International Congress of Physics. Contrary to simplified accounts which portrait 1900 as the year of revolutionary transition from classical to quantum physics it is shown that almost all physicists at that time were satisfied with classical physics and were actively enriching and expanding it.
