Blurring the boundaries

The research in artificial intelligence (AI) in design is playing a vital role in blurring the boundaries between the physical environment and the virtual environment. Research in artificial intelligence in design is moving forward with advances in information technology in two ways, namely the development of new models of design processes and the development of new environments. Research in AI in design applies and extends reasoning models for complex, ill-defined design domains. It supports collaboration spaces for people in different physical places, integration of digital media and place-making objects, and development of curious responsive places. It also led to the integration of places with intelligence, which enables the workplace to become curious by taking interest in its personnel, learning about their behavioral patterns, and trying to provide better services.
