摘要
The injection molding process has become known for its ability to form complex part. However, it also produced defects, the main defects form in this process were the shrinkage and warpage. These defects may formed due to several factors which involves the plastic injection molding process. The Response Surface Methodology (RSM) approach is utilized in finding the significant factor and recommended settings in minimizing the shrinkage percentage. The processing parameters used were packing pressure, cooling time, melt temperature and mold temperature. The results showed reduction in shrinkage percentage in the x and y direction as compared to recommended shrinkage percentage gained by AMI. They are 1.78% from 1.95% in x direction and 1.69% from 1.85 % respectively. Thus showed the RSM ability in minimizing the shrinkage percentage and finding the optimal setting in producing the part.
