Investigation of (p, xn), (p, pxn), and (p, 2p) reactions on tin isotopes

摘要
The cross sections for (p, xn) reactions induced by 660-MeV protons incident on the separated isotopes Sn-118 and Sn-124 are measured by using the method of induced activity. The mechanisms of (p, xn), (p, pxn), and (p, 2p) reactions are discussed. The cross sections for (p, n) and (p, pn) reactions are studied as functions of the target mass number. In addition, the cross sections for (p, xn) reactions are analyzed as functions of the ratio N/Z for a target. Experimental data are compared with theoretical predictions based on a Monte Carlo simulation. The dependence of the (p, xn) cross section on the number of emitted neutrons is compared with the corresponding dependence for the yields from (gamma, pi(-), xn) reactions. For (p, xn) reactions, it is shown that the number of evaporation neutrons is x - 1.
