A robust algorithm for source number detection and 2-D DOA estimation based on real-valued computation

摘要
In this paper, we present an accurate, robust, and computationally efficient source number detection and two-dimensional direction of arrival (2-D DOA) estimation method, for multiple narrowband far-field signals impinging on a uniform rectangular array. The proposed method offers several advantages over other recently proposed algorithms. First, it exhibits Superior robustness to the change in signal-to-noise ration (SNR) or the perturbation in array response. Second, except for the final eigenvalue decomposition, it is efficiently formulated in terms of real-valued computation. Finally, it makes use of the left singular vectors and eigenvalues to estimate the number of sources and 2-D DOAs, respectively. The performances of some relevant algorithms are compared via simulations, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified.
