(Chemical Equation Presented) Vinyl-substituted silicon compounds react selectively with terminal alkynes in the presence of complexes containing [Ru]-H and [Ru]-Si bonds to form functionalized silylethynes (see picture). This reaction opens up a new catalytic route for the preparation of a class of potent organosilicon reagents for organic synthesis. © 2006 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
