Facile Formation of 1D Flower-like Fe3O4@SiO2@Co3O4 Composites for Effective Microwave Absorption

Here, a simple method to grow Co3O4 nanosheets with the two-dimensional (2D) structure on the One-dimensional (1D) Fe3O4@SiO2 (FS) nanochains was successfully prepared. Whilst the microstructure, chemical composition and morphology of the 1D flower-like Fe3O4@SiO2@Co3O4 (FSC) nanochains were investigated in detail. For 1D flower-like FSC nanochains, when the doping amount was about 30%, the minimum reflection loss (RLmin) values would reach -37.94 dB at 16.13 GHz with the thickness of 1.5 mm, and the effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) was 3.85 GHz (14.15-18 GHz), almost covered the two-thirds of the Ku band. Such excellent microwave absorption (MA) properties can be explained by the higher aspect ratio and the larger specific surface area, which could be used as a hopeful candidate for the new types of microwave absorbing materials.
