Velocity spectrum measurements in droplet-laden jets

The velocity spectrum characteristics of an axisymmetric, droplet-laden turbulent jet is investigated using laser anemometry. Measurements are carried out at large distances from the nozzle (>100 diameters). The inherent similarity of turbulent droplet-laden jets is investigated. The droplet velocity spectra are obtained at several locations in the flow. The velocity spectra at various radial locations along the jet cross-section collapse on to a single curve indicating similarity. The axial velocity spectra along the jet center-line also indicate similarity. A measure of the macroscales and the dissipation scales are also obtained along the jet axis.
