摘要
While international university rankings like ARWU or THES, which are based on evaluating a university as a whole, become more popular, discipline-based ranking models are also in growing demand and importance. One of these models is a ranking system for engineering HEIs developed at Tomsk Polytechnic University (TTU), Tomsk, Russia. It is used by the Russian Association for Engineering Education (RAEE) for ranking Russian engineering universities and is going to be adopted within the RAEE-UICEE project on the international ranking of universities based on engineering disciplines. In this paper, the authors highlight features of the ranking project on the RAEE ranking, including the principles of the ranking model and selection of the criteria and indicators for university rankings. A brief comparative analysis of the proposed ranking and other existing rankings are presented, including well-done subject-based models like the CHE/Stern university ranking used in Germany by the Center for Higher Education Development. Correspondence of the RAEE ranking to the Berlin Principles set by the International Ranking Expert Group is analysed. Recent intermediate results on developing and implementation of the RAEE ranking model with the Russian HEIs ranking are also proposed.
