SOLID WASTE GENERATION ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND ITS RECYCLING OPPORTUNITIES IN TAMIL NADU

摘要
The main objective of this work is to highlight the increasing growth of solid waste generation in Madurai and to predict total solid waste generation in the future. These solid wastes will contaminate the environment and create health oriented issues. Even though there is a serious issue in addressing the solid waste management on the other side it can be to converted into a useful product by the method called waste to energy method. There is an open market to obtain profit from these solid wastes which can be sold in the recyclable market. This paper highlights the solid waste details in Tamil nadu in all cities of Tamil nadu and also pave the way for revenue generation from these solid wastes like glass, sheet metal, plastic, rubber etc. Especially some analytical tools like regression are used to predict the revenue generation from the solid waste for the upcoming years in Madurai region. Spearman rank correlation to find the per capita waste generation between the four zones in Madurai. All these measures are used in this work to plan the future scope of action for the revenue generation from the solid waste generated in Madurai city.
