Maintaining quality of an undergraduate electronics engineering curriculum

One aspect of maintaining quality of an engineering curriculum is to maintain its relevance to the current needs of industry while assuring the students' ability to achieve life-long learning. This paper addresses a question raised recently in that regard by students and educators of electronics: in a world perceived to be dominated by digital applications and solutions, and most likely to continue as such for the foreseeable future, what is the relevance of analogue devices and systems in an electronics curriculum? The discussion in this paper relates to an informal survey of opinions of numerous engineers and technologists in various electronics industries in the US and 'Canada carried out through e-mail exchanges.
