摘要
Cattle body conformation is one of important trait which has influence on dairy cattle breeding goals to improve milk production. At this term, chest girth, body length and wither height (part of body conformation) have positive correlation with body weight. Information of body conformation commonly measured by direct observation. However, its potential can be estimated and selected using DNA marker such as microsatellite. For that, this study aims to identify and select microsatellites as DNA marker candidate which are associated with body conformation. Selected markers will be applied in genetic selection of Friesian Holstein dairy cattle in Indonesia. This study was performed insilico by employing genetic databases combined with meta-analysis data from published studies. Sixteen known microsatellites marker for cattle genetic were obtained/recommended by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). These markers detail were retrieved from arkDB database, along with investigation in 72 published studies. Related information of these markers was grouped into reproduction, milk production and body conformation trait. As the result, seven markers were selected, five makers were found to be associated with reproduction, milk production and body conformation and the other two were specific for body conformation. The marker candidate namely BM1818, BM1824, ETH225, BM2113, ETH152, ETH10 and INRA032. Following marker selection, an association study between microsatellite genetic variation and body conformation need to be performed.
