摘要
This study proposes a real-time monitoring system measuring the sediment height in sewer pipes to prevent urban flooding. The system monitors the sediment/solid-waste height and collects the measurement routinely at discrete locations. Strain gauges attached to circular plates measure the strains at different heights in the sewer pipe so that the height of significant difference in strain can be detected, which will be the sediment height. The finite element analysis shows the feasibility of the monitoring system and provides the design parameters in the development stage.
