Grain boundary motion in pure metals: Effect of interaction between adsorbed atoms at moving boundaries

摘要
In-situ measurements of the motion of special and non-special (111) tilt grain boundaries in aluminium bicrystals of different purity show that even in very pure aluminium the activation parameters of the grain boundary mobility depend on the content of soluble impurities. The investigations are described in the framework of an approach which takes into account the interaction between the adsorbed impurity atoms. It is shown that at least for a special grain boundary the high values of the activation parameters can be explained by that interaction.
