An efficient new design of the optical ring network

摘要
An optical multichannel ring making use of directional coupler photonic switches is considered in this paper. it separates data paths from control paths, allows multiple pairs of nodes to communicate simultaneously over one data channel and thus possesses high reliability and reconfigurability. An efficient yet deadlock-free distributed control protocol is devised to. set up/tear down connections quickly in the optical network, yielding good resource utilization. Performance of the proposed network has been simulated for evaluation.
