KnowledgeScapes A new conceptual approach and selected empirical findings from recent research on knowledge milieus and knowledge networks

The complex interplay between accelerating knowledge dynamics, heterogeneous spatial developments and conflict-driven transaction fields represents a core constellation of actual societal and spatial processes. Many interdependencies here are riot yet: too clearly understood, and verified causal explanations are scarce. :In this article new research heuristics will be presented in order to make a step ahead in this foggy field. It addresses the co-evolutionary interrelations between knowledge, space, and milieu. With seven short argumentative steps, the conceptual outfit, major empirical findings and selected strategic and governance consequences for knowledge-based urban-regional developments shall be sketched out.
