摘要
Despite the participation of the private sector to date, in a range of innovative public-private partnerships (PPPs), primarily in toll roads, there is a view that it is time to review a wider set of ways that we might harness finance and hence funding capabilities to ensure that future generations might benefit much more from decisions taken today. This is true with respect to commitments by government on investment in transport infrastructure, where the current population may be foregoing benefits because of decisions taken in the past. This topical issue piece sets out a framework of issues that we believe should be central to a move forward in thinking outside the conventional box in recognising the infrastructure deficit and doing something about it that is value-adding.
