QoS specification and adaptation of distributed multimedia applications in the MUSE environment

摘要
Quality of Service (QoS) is an important aspect of the support to multimedia applications, however, the diversity of these applications difficults the establishment of a QoS standard. Besides, adaptation methods need to be defined to handle quality variations. This paper presents the definition of QoS in the MUSE specification environment, as well as a way of mapping the QoS parameters from the application to the lower levels. It is also presented a strategy to allow the adaptation of the application to adverse situations in the network.
