ON MODIFIED SECOND ORDER RESPONSE SURFACE DESIGNS, ROTATABLE DESIGNS, ROTATABLE DESIGNS WITH EQUI-SPACED DOSES

In this paper, a review on modified second order response surface designs is studied. Different methods of construction of modified second order response surface designs, modified second order rotatable designs (SORD), modified SORD with equispaced doses (levels) using central composite designs, balanced incomplete block designs (BIBD), pairwise balanced designs (PBD) and symmetrical unequal block arrangements (SUBA) with two unequal block sizes are examined in detail. These methods are useful in deciding a proper design for second order response surface models for the construction of modified second order response surface designs, modified SORD, modified SORD with equi-spaced doses with desired properties or minimum number of design points. Tables are provided where for a range of different values of v (v-stands for number of factors) the design points needed by different methods are compared for 2 <= v <= 16.
