摘要
100GBASE-LR4 is an unamplified standard for Ethernet at 100 Gb/s data rate, allowing for connection distances up to 10km, while 100GBASE-ER4 calls for larger optical budget in order to reach at least 40km. We discuss these for highspeed communication between data centers, with particular emphasis on the optical amplification (SOAs) included in the transceiver modules in order to enable long-distance links.
