摘要
A preliminary study is carried out of the optimal location and overall characteristics of an offshore wind farm in the northern coast of Galicia, Spain. Environmental and technical requirements are weighted to choose the best location. Device characteristics, floating platform and turbine set, are determined considering a required 100 MW power capacity, for which alternative configurations are studied and compared. Development, construction and installation costs of the several items present in such a project are taken into account to produce an initial estimate of these. It is shown that investing on an offshore wind farm still presents a high risk investment compared with the well-established onshore counterpart, without further technological or political developments regarding governmental incentives.
